The Paton-Churdan girls basketball team is 2-1 after a win over the Woodbine Tigers 61-36 in Churdan Tuesday.
Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rockets were in charge the entire game, leading 20-6 after one quarter, 37-22 at halftime, and 53-28 after three quarters.
P-C senior Jenna Beyers dominated, making 12 of 20 shots from 2-point range. She added one of two free throws for 25 points in the game. She also led her team in rebounds, with four offensive and four defensive rebounds.
Sophomore Danielle Hoyle scored 13 points with four 2-point baskets and five of six shooting at the line. She had six rebounds and four blocked shots. Chloe Berns scored seven points, Tessa Steimel scored five, Megan Carey and Karissa Stephenson had three points each, and Briana Jewett added two points. Steimel, Carey and Stephenson made one 3-point shot each.
The team shot at 43 percent from the floor and 71 percent from the line. For the season, the girls’ average is 56 points scored per game and 46 points allowed.
The boys team fell to 0-3, losing 89-56 to the Tigers. The Rockets trailed 51-34 at the intermission, and the Tigers followed the break with a 28-point third quarter.

Next up for the Rockets is the short road trip to Glidden Dec. 7 to play the Glidden-Ralston Wildcats. One of the boys teams will get its first win of the season, as both are 0-3. The G-R girls team is 3-0.
